Where does Wear OS go from here?

In my daily ritual of tech news reading, I stumbled upon an article on my favorite site (The Verge) by one of my favorite tech personalities (Dieter Bohn). I have linked the original article below, but the gist of it is that Wear OS by Google is sinking quickly. With this in mind, he points individuals to other options for Android users such as hybrid watches while detailing the significant edge Apple Watches have over Wear OS watches. While he makes some valid points, my experience makes me respectfully disagree.

For compatibility and integration's sake, I have no problem suggesting that some would benefit from avoiding Wear OS currently. For example, if you have an iPhone (and some extra cash), Apple Watch would be the way to go. It integrates seamlessly, and I do think it is a good looking piece of hardware. Also, if you own a Galaxy, a Gear watch running Tizen is great companion. I am sure there are those that cross platforms without a problem, but I am an ecosystem guy. And trust me, my Wear OS watch gets the job done.

As I have said before, I have Google everything (mostly), and my Huawei Watch paired with my Pixel 2 is a perfect match right now. Having said that, in the interest of honestly, I will jump right to a Pixel Watch should it ever come my way. With my devices, I get phone calls and text messages sent flawlessly to my watch, and I can control my Spotify or Google Play Music straight from my watch. Checking out my shopping list on Keep? Works perfectly from my watch. Golfpad GPS? Great integration with my watch. What else could I need?

Do I wish my watch was waterproof? Yeah, but it is not a necessity for me. I have even found the Google Assistant to work pretty well from my watch. Now, I know the main concern is that it can be a little slow and buggy as well as the battery life is not top-of-the-line. However, does that mean the platform is junk? Ummm, no. Wear OS simply needs some new hardware with some optimization, and the platform is still a great competitor. I wanted a smartwatch that looked like a classic diver, but offered all of advantages of wearable technology, and so far, my Huawei Watch checks the boxes. My opinion: Wear OS is an upgrade and optimization away from being an excellent Android companion.

iPhone 7

It is that time again: Apple has launched a new iPhone, and the masses will flock tomorrow to get their hands on the "best one yet". However, I believe that this line is beginning to be slightly misleading. Is it the best iPhone? Yes. Is it the best phone? I would say no. At the same time, I do believe that it is a solid device. Admittedly, I have not had an iPhone since 4; I also had a MacBook Pro and iPad 2 at the time. I used to be fully in the iCorner.
